Segovia!!!

Well I decided to start a blog because I want to be able to share with you guys my amazing experiences and I feel like I will forget a lot if I do not write this down!

So Day One-Probably felt like the longest day of my life.  My flight was from RDU to Chicago then to Segovia. I felt a wee bit nervous going to Segovia (first time flying over sees by myself) so I decided to take a sleeping pill to ease the nerves and be able to sleep.  Luckily the person next to me never showed on the plane so I was able to have two seats all to myself :-).  So i stretched out (not really but it felt like it on the plane) and slept on and off for about 8 hours.  Im really happy I took the sleeping pill because they did not show one movie on the plane which I thought was a little strange.  So as I got to Madrid, I flew into the new terminal, which by the way I wish I took a picture of because it was so cool looking, very modern and huge ceilings that looked almost like I was in a huge factory.  So it was about 3 am in the USA (7 am in spain) I felt strange but made myself wake up because I had to get to terminal 1 to meet the group.  Who knew just reading signs actually got you to the right place, I was really scared I was going to get lost but I only had to ask one person a question and I got there fine.

So it took us about an hour to get to Segovia from Madrid and once we arrived we waited in front of our escuela (school) for our padres (parents).  One by one these old ladies came walking up kissing both cheeks of our profesor (teacher) and then once they found out who there child was they would kiss and off they would go...literally they were so excited they would grab us and speaking very fast loud spanish yelled for us to get in there car like they were officially our new moms.  One by one everyone got there parents and I was starting to think I would have no padres when this younger woman came walking up in these purple pants matching black and white cheetah shirt and black heels with her tiny doggie.  My profesor told her I was her daughter and she kissed me on both cheeks and we were off...As we were walking fastly to her apartment she was telling me things that Im pretty sure I would have understood but with the lack of no sleep and it was very warm I just kept says si (yes) because I had no idea what was going on.  So as were walking up the cobble stone streets not only am I sweating to death in my north face fleece jacket my wheel is half off my suitcase and im literally just pulling 50 pounds up these hills.  I couldn't remember how to say my luggage is broken can we slow down and even if i did at the time I felt bad because I just met her so I kept my mouth shut.  Once we got into the apartment which is literally like 50 but 30 ft (not exaggerating)...she brings me into my room which is probably 10 by 8 feet and a tiny little bed.  So as im unpacking she tells me to come eat because it was 3 and this is called Siesta.  Everyone comes home and eats and takes a nap even stores are closed from 2-4 everyday (wish we had this in the United States).  So as she throws me a huge thing of rice and fried eggs she hands me this ketchup looking package which I was supposed to put on my rice, which I did and happy I did because it was muy delicioso! Also we had a huge bueguet sitting on the table which I found out today you do not put the bread on a plate, table only.  Then when I thought I could not eat anymore she offered me some amazing strawberries and creme..nom nom.

Later that day I went to my first class which basically consisted of touring the city.  We went to this aqueduct which was made in the 1200s.  It brought water from the mountains into the city and it is pieced together by all these huge blocks of stone which somehow they did not use any cement to put them together.

After a long day of walking in the beautiful city, I came home around 9 and at 930 we ate dinner.  She offered me some delicous pizza and salad.  Dont remember much after this I was so tired everything was a blurr but after dinner I went and got ice cream at this Cafe.  And then finally went to sleep which was the best sleep ive gotten in a long time!
